Obituary of Maria DiGiovanni

Maria E. “Mary” DiGiovanni (nee Petinga), 94, of Ventnor, NJ while being surrounded by her loving family, peacefully passed away in Galloway on October 25, 2018. Mary was born on May 14, 1924 in Atlantic City. She lived in Atlantic City until later in life moving to Ventnor. She was a graduate of Atlantic City High School. Mary loved her job working at Gordon’s Youth Shop and later worked at Trump Plaza and Tropicana Hotel Casino. During World War II, Mary worked for Western Union, where she would process telegrams informing families of soldiers who had been wounded or deceased in the line of duty. Mary was a member of Club Sovoia and St. Michaels Opera Company. She served as Vice President of St. Michaels PTA. She was President of the Chariteers and President of her favorite group from St. Michaels Church, the Mary Help of Christians. Mary is pre-deceased by brothers Salvatore and Arthur, sisters Serina, Gloria and Rita and grandchildren, Sarah and Devin. Mary is survived by her husband of 72 years Pasquale (Charlie) DiGiovanni. Sons Larry (Dolores) and Ron (Sharon) and daughter, Maria (Joe) Connelly. Grandchildren Ryan, Laurie, Christine, Ron Jr., Lauren, Megan, Carly. Great Grandchildren Gianna, Madeline, Carly, Sean, Kasey, and Gabriella. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 29th , 11 AM at St. Michaels Church, 10 N. Mississippi Ave in Atlantic City, NJ. A viewing will be held from 9 – 11AM. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Jude Hospital for Children at www.stjudes.org/give.
