Richard R. Lovett III, 71, of Longport, died at the Atlantic City Campus of AtlanticCare Medical Center on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Born June 7, 1943, Richard lived and worked in Longport for most of his life. He graduated from Atlantic City Friends School and attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was the operating manager of Longport Marine until his retirement.
An avid duck hunter and fisherman, Richard was a long-time member of the Atlantic County Game Preserve. Only a few people knew that he decorated a Christmas tree near the duck meadow along the Longport-Somers Point Boulevard each December.
He was the son of Richard R. Lovett Jr. and Mildred Mark Lovett. His survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Sue Bradley Lovett; son Richard R. Lovett IV, wife Heather and their three children Olivia, Gillian, and Geoffrey of Somers Point; and Bradley Lovett, his wife Lara, and their two daughters, Noel and Leia of Sparta, New Jersey. He has one sister, Suzanne Lovett Ethridge of Farmington Hills, Michigan. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, on Thursday, June 19th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A private service for the family will be held in late June at Penn Hill Friends Meeting, Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania.
