Obituary of Patrick Erdman

ERDMAN, PATRICK J. – 74, of Ventnor, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly after a short illness, on September 29, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. Pat was born in Atlantic City, and was a graduate of Atlantic City High School.  While attending high school, Pat was a member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol for two years.  After graduation he became an award winning transmission mechanic, working for Shore Motors Buick. Pat was a proud firefighter, serving the City of Atlantic City for 35 years, before retiring where he received numerous accommodations. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and more recently known to “hold court” at Ray Scott’s Dock in Margate. He was a proud member of the Antler Gun Club where his friends truly got to know him, and a very well-known and respected fisherman. A true friend to many, he was a master at helping countless people catch fish with his incredible fishing knowledge. A man of strong faith, he was a passionate reader of scripture and the word of God.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Pat is survived by his loving wife Eilene, where they shared love, laughter, and life for 53 years.  He is also survived by his daughter, Deborah Bateson (William) and son William (Lisa). He was the best “POP” to his three grandchildren, Lauren Erdman (Raeann), Michael Erdman and Megan Erdman; his brother, Edward, Jr. (Janette); his two sisters, Catherine Clark and Mary Alice Digris (Neil); sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Erdman and Paula Bonanni (Joseph); along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Edward Sr. and Bertha Erdman; sister, Peggy; brother, James; and nephews, Tony and James. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Parish: St James Church, 6415 Atlantic Avenue, Ventnor.  A visitation will be held from 8:45 AM until 10:45 AM. Burial will be private for family members.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to Holy Trinity Parish, St. James Church in Pat’s name. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood – Ventnor. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com
