Obituary of Carmen Gerbino (DeMeo)

Carmen DeMeo Gerbino, age 93, of San Clemente, California passed away peacefully on May 11, 2018 at The San Clemente Villas by the Sea. 

Carmen was born April 24, 1925 in Atlantic City, New Jersey where she lived most of her life. She recently relocated to California to join her daughter and family. Carmen was a graduate of Holy Spirit High School, class of 1942. She worked for The Boardwalk National Bank, Children’s Seashore House and Atlantic Shore Orthopedics, where she finally retired at the young age of 80. Carmen was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and an active member of Mary Help of Christians Society. Her faith and spirituality played a major role in her life.

Carmen leaves behind her daughter Paula and husband Bill, granddaughter Cara and husband Zakari and great grandson Jamie, as well as her brother Dr. Daniel DeMeo and many nieces and nephews. She was married for 49 years to Angelo J. Gerbino, retired Atlantic City Police Captain, who pre-deceased her in 1995. She will fondly be remembered as the organizer of many memorable family gatherings. 

The viewing will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, NJ from 6:00-8:00pm.  There will be a funeral Mass on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church at 10:00am. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing at 9:30-10:00am. Carmen received outstanding care for the past seven years while living at The Villas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the “Employee Appreciation Fund” at the San Clemente Villas by the Sea. Address: 660 Camino de los Mares, San Clemente, CA  92673.
