Obituary of Raymond Hocker, Jr.
Raymond P. Hocker, Jr. 47, of Ventnor, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, January 28, 2018.
Ray was born on August 3, 1970 in Cape May Court House, and raised in Erma, NJ where he attended Lower Cape May High School. Ray then went onto Kean University to obtain a teaching degree and have a successful wrestling career. He also met the love of his life, Jane.
Ray has been a dedicated special education teacher at Maurice River Elementary School for the past 16 years. He was a faithful vestry member of St. John’s by the Sea Church in Ventnor and proud Boy Scout troop leader in Somers Point. Ray was an avid fisherman in the local waterways of Atlantic County and was happiest when fishing with his two children.
Ray is survived by his adoring wife, Jane (nee Calhoun); his children, Jake (12) and Lily, (9); his parents, Donna and Paul Hocker; sister, Catherine (Will); brother, Joseph (Karen); as well as many loving in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his niece, Riley.
A visitation will be held from 7-9pm on Wednesday, January 31st at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, NJ. Friends and family may call the following morning from 10-11,with a memorial service begining at 11am at the St. John’s By The Sea Church, 6 S. Sacramento Ave., Ventnor.
