Obituary of Marilyn Corcoran

Corcoran, Marilyn Alexander, or “Lynn,” as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, returned to God Friday night, December 15, 2017.  She was surrounded by her loving family, which was always most important to her.

Born August 15, 1926 in Englewood, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Roma Dayton Alexander.  A graduate of Dwight Morrow High School, she earned a degree in commercial art, majoring in fashion illustration at Endicott College, Beverly, MA.  She married her high school sweetheart, the late John J. Corcoran.

Lynn was an active member of her communities.  While living in Berkeley Heights, NJ, she was a longtime member of the Women’s Club.  After moving to Longport, into the house her grandfather built, she became a substitute teacher for Margate, Ventnor, Atlantic City, and Mainland schools.

Lynn enjoyed oil painting, debating politics, working the election polls, and especially “her beach” and “her ocean.”  Lynn was a member of the Margate Community Church.

Her brother, William D. Alexander, preceded her in death this year.

She will be deeply missed by her children, J. Bruce and wife Fran of Mill Valley, CA, Kathleen and husband Dennis Neubauer of Mountain Top, PA, and Kevin W. and his wife Linda of Moorestown, NJ, as well as her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation and celebration of Marilyn’s life will be at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, NJ on Thursday, December 21st from 6:30-7:30pm, followed by a service at 7:30pm.

Burial will be Friday, December 22nd at 9:30pm, at the Brookside Cemetery in Englewood, NJ.

Memorial donations may be made to the Longport Historical Society, 2305 Atlantic Ave., Longport, NJ 08403. Condolences may be extended to the family at
