Obituary of Sylvia DePillis
DePillis (Natterman), Sylvia, age 82, of Longport, passed away at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, on Friday, June 23, 2017 with family by her side.
Born May 16, 1935 in Washington, DC, she grew up in Atlantic City. She graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1953, moved to Greenwich Village, New York City, where she worked as a legal secretary. Sylvia continued her education graduating from Glassboro State College, NJ in 1965 with a teaching certificate in elementary education. She taught in Boonton, NJ and Chews Landing, NJ.
Sylvia was married to Alexander (Rex) DePillis (d. 1998) for many very happy years. They retired to Longport. Sylvia is survived by her sister, Colleen Kirby, and her nephews, David Botwinik, Donald Budmen, and Mark Natterman. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Russell and Douglas DePillis. Her grand nephews and nieces will miss their “Aunt Pepper” very much. She was preceded in death by her dear niece Lynda Malvey.
Family and friends are invited to Sylvia’s home to celebrate her life on Monday, July 3 from 1:00-4:00, reflection time at 2:00, 27 South 33rd Avenue, Longport, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, Sylvia’s family has asked that donations be made to the Longport Fire Department, 2305 Atlantic Avenue, Longport, NJ 08403.
