Obituary of Bernard A. Halverson
Halverson, Bernard A Jr. “Bernie" of Linwood, NJ was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on February 4th, 2021.
Bernie was born August 24, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to the South Jersey area when he was 18 years old.
There he met the love of his life Susan Scull. They were married 42 years until her death in 2014.
Bernie started his career at South Jersey Gas Company where he worked for 27 years until his retirement. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years on the Linwood Fire Department.
Bernie loved people and especially loved sharing God’s word with everyone he met. Nothing could make Bernie happier than when he led people to the Lord. He had the gift of always giving of himself. Whether it was a listening ear, a helping hand, or just being there for someone in need. Known as a prayer “Warrior”, he would pray on the spot for anyone and everyone.
Bernie was a great storyteller, he loved to talk about everything and had a fascination for the unusual, such as Flat Earth, WWE, Nephilim, Big Foot, just to name a few.
Bernie loved the country and purchased property in West Virginia where he met many friends and enjoyed spending time soaking in God’s landscape.
He is predeceased by his wife Susan 2014, his son Gary 2001. He is survived by his sister Karen Croft, Mattoon, Illinois and her family, Linda Scull his sister in law of Linwood, cousin Kim Halverson of AC, two Yorkies, Zip And Brody.
Special friends that he considered his family Vicki, Drew, and Andrew Smith, Kim Baglivo and her family, Steve and Beth Hinkley and their family.
West Virginia special friend Linda Windle, and Liz and Dave Floyd. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 19th from 10:00-11:00am, following the visitation a service will begin at 11am at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Rd., Linwood, NJ with Pastor Chris Gregas officiating. Internment at Zion Cemetery, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ.
