Before the sunrise on 1/17/21, Rita Adler left this world peacefully and on her own terms, at age 88, while being cared for by wonderful and caring staff at United Methodist Hospice in Ocean City, New Jersey. She was a caring wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, and friend. Rita had a long life of cherished memories, loving family, and friends who adored her. She was a strong minded, assertive woman, full of humor and persistence. Rita was famous for her classy style and fashion sense and endearing advice to all she connected with; often repeating her most favorite quote about life; “It is what it is”.
Rita was born 11/27/1932 in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Bertha and Leon Segal, graduated from Atlantic City High School and resided most of her adult life in Margate, New Jersey, where she was preceded in death by her endearing husband Herbert Adler and Brother Harry Segal. She is survived by her children Dr. Brian Adler M.D. of Myrtle Beach and Shari Adler of Philadelphia, Daughter in Law Maurita Adler, and Son in Law Ronald Saunders, Sister In Law Rose Wells, Niece Terri and Nephews Chris and the late Jeff Segal, grandchildren Pangaea Saunders, Maxwell, Alexandria M.D, Chelsea and Hannah Adler M.D. along with four Great-grandchildren and “Person”….All of who she kvelled about proudly to those who knew her.
Rita enjoyed being a homemaker and worked in younger years in fashion and home decorating. She loved and adored her many friends; including Captain Anthony Tabasso and her loving neighbors from Granville Avenue, playing Majong, traveling the world with Herbie and spending her senior years writing witty poetry and socializing at Starbucks where she met many kind and wonderful people; including Laura and Paul Dulac and their 3 beautiful daughters who loved and cared for her as a true family member. Rita enjoyed spending her time during the Pandemic chatting several times a day with Shari and Pangaea on the phone about her memories growing up in Atlantic City and laughing about meashugana moments.
