Virginia Margarita “Vima” Claver-Oris, aged 62 of Egg Harbor Township, died of non-COVID conditions on September 3, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was born on November 2, 1957 in Lepanto, Benguet, Philippines. She graduated from the Conservatory of Music of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines in 1977. She developed into a professional singer with an accompanying band – the “Cavatina.” The popular band performed in the various cities in the Philippines as well as in venues around the world.
At the height of her singing career, she made the sacrifice to quit the profession to move to New Jersey in 1997 to provide companionship to her mother, Mary Claver. In the United States, she decided to pursue a nursing career at the age of 49. After completing her Licensed Practical Nursing Program, she proceeded to finish her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a full-fledged nurse, she served at Shore Medical Center in Somers Point, New Jersey.
Virginia is survived by her husband Camilo Oris, siblings Constancio Jr (late Alyce Omengan), Francisco (Angelina Maranan), Michael (Gina Yu), Josephine (Texter Taclobao) and her son Derek Longid (Donna Martin), and three grandchildren (Derek, Dean, and Francesca). Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Constancio Sr and Mary Claver.
A true lover of music, a loving and devoted wife. And eternally smiling.
Visitation on September 12, 2020 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM EST at George H. Wimberg Funeral Home located at 1707 New Road, Linwood NJ 08221.
