Hughes, John “Jake” Mansfield, 73, of Somers Point, died suddenly at his home on Sunday, November 19th.
Born November 2, 1944 in Philadelphia, he lived in Somers Point for most of his life, attended Mainland Regional High School and worked as a union carpenter for 38 years until his retirement in 1999. He also worked part time for East Coast Tire after his retirement. John was a member of the Catholic Church, a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many events.
He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his children and grandchildren and all who knew him. He is survived by children, Tracey (Skip) Snow, Tim (Amy) Hughes, and Stacey Hughes, and step-children Michelle Sult, and April Ricco; grandchildren, Kyle, Taylor, Evan, Jack, Emily, and Delaney. John was preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret (Mullholland) Hughes.
Services will be held Monday, November 27th at 7:00 pm with viewing from 5:00-7:00pm at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Linwood, NJ. Interment will be private.
