Ida Saylor (Barron) nee Shiffler, family matriarch, passed away peacefully in Sewell, NJ on October 8th at the age of 96.
Born March 8th, 1925, in Philadelphia, the 15th of 15 children to late William and Ella Schiffler. She was a devoted mother to 7 children, homemaker, and worker in the food services industry. In her spare time, she started a Women’s Club to create a community for other working mothers in her neighborhood. She was also an advocate for mental health. She most recently lived in Somers Point, NJ where she was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, enjoyed crocheting, loved playing Bingo, 500 rummy and solitaire and enjoyed spending time with family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her surviving children Carolann Roach, Richard (Patricia) Barron, Kathleen (George) Erskine, Jacqueline (late Patsy) Capone, and Marie Barron. She was proceeded in death by her sons, James (Angie) Saylor and Michael (Franny) Saylor. She will be remembered fondly by her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday October 14th from 2-3pm, followed by a 3pm service, at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Susan G. Komen foundation or Boys Town.
