Eugene C. Wahl, III

Eugene C. Wahl III, age 85, of Egg Harbor Township passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, April 3, 2021.

Born October 7, 1935, in Atlantic City, he lived in the Inlet section until he married his high school sweetheart, Carol A. Conover, in 1958.  Gene served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma and at Fort Lewis in Washington State until his honorary discharge. Upon returning home, he was employed by the U.S Postal Service in Atlantic City where he worked for 40 years. Gene and Carol moved to Linwood in 1965 where they raised their family. His true passion was building, including their family home on Shore Road, numerous other houses, the original street hockey court and 2nd floor addition to the baseball stand at the Linwood All Wars Memorial Park. He enjoyed antique cars, his multiple corvettes and was a member of the Boardwalk Corvette Club. Gene was known for his master craftsmanship, always saying “It’ll be right when I’m done with it”. He liked telling his own jokes and loved a good family party. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Linwood.

Gene is survived by his loving wife Carol of 62 years, their children: Kelly Wahl Rimmele (Paul), Deborah Wahl, Barbara Wahl Kimmins, Kevin Wahl (Melissa), their grandchildren: Ryan and Rachel Rimmele, Megan, Rebecca and Kyle Yaffee, Macey and Cody Kimmins, Maya and Ava Wahl, and his beloved black lab Marley.  He is predeceased by his parents Eugene and Almeda Wahl.

A viewing will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Rd., Linwood where all family and friends are invited to attend.  Memorial services and burial at Friends Central Cemetery are private.
