Obituary of Stephen Hartley
Stephen Dana Hartley, 58, of Ventnor, NJ passed away suddenly on February 19th. He was born on October 19th, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA to Edith and Ruebin Hartley. He grew up in Sea Isle City and graduated from Wildwood Catholic and Stockton College. There, he met the love of his life, Catherine (Hogan) and together they raised three beautiful children Stephen, Dayna, and Joseph. He was a long time employee for the City of Ventnor, a mentor, and had a significant impact on many children. He was a pillar in Atlantic County athletics and was known by many as ‘Coach Harts’.
Stephen was a member of the Catholic Church and had a deep rooted faith in our Lord and Savior. He is also survived by his nieces, Denise Trumbauer, and her family, Jeff, Wolfgang, Dietrich, and Jette; as well as Vicki Hatfield and her family, Glenn, Samantha, and Madison.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 24th, 11AM at Holy Trinity Parish: St. James Roman Catholic Church in Ventnor. A visitation will be held from 10AM-11AM, followed by the Mass in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Spirit High School in Stephen’s honor. Burial will be private. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Ventnor- Linwood.
