Obituary of Mary Jordan
Jordan, Mary C. - 92 of Northfield, passed away Sunday, October 1st. She was born and raised in Pleasantville and was a graduate of Pleasantville High School Class of ‘44. She was the daughter of Anthony and Julia Russo. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Anthony Russo and her husband Rudy. Mary spent her whole life giving to others. She was always for the underdog and would give you her last dollar if you needed it. Mary was a lifelong member of St. Bernadette’s Sodality, a 30 year volunteer at Our Lady’s Residence, a Birthright volunteer for 25 years and a member of We Care, an organization that sent care packages to our troops during the Vietnam War.
Her greatest joy in life was being a Mom, Grandmom and Great-Grandmom. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their “Mimi” and she was always there for them with her wisdom, love, and understanding. Mary was a cooking enthusiast whose mastery of Italian food was second to none. She will be sorely missed most of all by her family. Surviving are her daughter, Tina McGarry; brother, Corky Russo; grandchildren, Brian McGarry, Melanie McGarry-Laymon, Maureen McGarry and Mark McGarry; Great-grandchildren, Jordan and Leanna Hazelwood, Lucy and Lola Laymon and Madilyn McGarry.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am on Friday, October 6th at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Wabash Ave., Linwood. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In memory of Mary, let’s spread kindness in the world. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood – Ventnor.
