Obituary of Dr. Walter Bew, Jr.
Bew, Jr, Dr. Walter T., 92 of Linwood, fell into the arms of God on Friday, June 2, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Growing up in Ventnor, he graduated from Atlantic City High School, class of '42. Dr. Bew began his degree at Cornell University where he enlisted in the Army Air Corps (US Air Force) as a flight surgeon. Dr. Bew earned his medical degree at 23 years old from the University of Tennessee and attended medical school at Ole' Mississippi. He then served in the Korean War completing 13 combat missions with the US Air Force.
Dr. Bew was the Employee Staff physician for 28 years at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. He was very proud to say that he held his private practice in Linwood for 50 years and one day, retiring in 2000. Dr. Bew had the honor of being the first General Practitioner to open an office in the town of Linwood.
Dr. Bew was blessed with a 34 year marriage to Patricia Humphries Bew which ended with her untimely death in 1986. From this marriage Dr. Bew is survived by their three children, William G. Bew, Robert W. Bew (Gail), Beverley Bew Posey (Brian); seven grandchildren, Christina Bew, Keith LeNoir, Kristy LeNoir, Dalton Bew, Nicolas Posey, Samantha Posey Squires; and five great grandchildren; and two nieces, Karen Osborn Carr and Janet Osborn. After 20 years of being a widow he married his second wife, Juanita T. Cullen Bew in September 2005. Her children are Dianne, William IV, and Betsy. Dr. Bew is also survived by his adopted son, Harold Bogie.
In his younger years, Dr. Bew enjoyed sailing, golf, and boating. However, his greatest joy was his garden where he could be found into his late 80s, planting flowers and showing off his beautiful garden.

Friends and family are invited to the George H Wimberg Funeral Home, on Saturday, June 10th, from 11:00am-1:00pm, a service will begin at 1:00pm. Entombment will be private at the Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com
