Obituary of Cheryl Holmes

Holmes (nee Walker), Cheryl Anne, 66, of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017.

Cheryl was born to parents William and Lenore Walker on January 16th, 1951 in Chester, PA. She grew up the eldest of two children in Springfield, PA where she attended Springfield High School. Cheryl then went on to attend Swarthmore Business School. She would later enroll in numerous classes in law and business where she would use her then teenage son Jason as a study partner.

During the next two decades Cheryl would raise three children while building, along with her husband Bob Holmes, one of the premier private investigation firms in the country. Her keen attention to detail, natural curiosity and business acumen made Cheryl one of the best in the business. She was equally proud of both her family and her work. In her downtime Cheryl loved going to garage sales, antiquing and decorating. Her silly nature and sense of humor was contagious.

Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Holmes (James Ransom); her son, Robert L. Holmes Jr. (Nastassia Holmes); her son Jason Holmes (Angie Holmes); her sister Lynne Walker; and five grandchildren, Rebecca Ayers, Emily Parker, Jacobe Holmes, Trevor Holmes and Chloe Holmes. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Robert L. Holmes Sr.; and her parents, William and Lenore Walker. Cheryl also leaves behind many wonderful friends and neighbors.

A remembrance service will be announced on a later date. The family is grateful for your thoughts and prayers. In place of condolences and flowers, the family requests donations be made “In Memory of Cheryl Holmes” to Humane Society of Ocean City at 1 Shelter Rd., Ocean City, NJ 08226; http://hsocnj.org.
