Stephen D'Amico

D'Amico, Stephen, 62, of EHT- Steve passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. Steve was born in Atlantic City to parents, Nicholas and Jennie D'Amico. He was raised in Ventnor Heights (Frogs Hollow), He was a true Ventnor Man. Steve attended Holy Spirit H.S. were he excelled on the rowing team, winning a Stotesbury Cup Gold Medal. He continued his rowing career by coaching at both Holy Spirit and Atlantic City high schools. He helped start the Island Rowing club in Brigantine which became Holy Spirit Girls crew. Steve also had a stellar rowing career and was one of the first masters rowers at the Viking Rowing Club.

Steve previously worked for Harrison Beverage driving a beer truck in Cape May County. With the advent of the casino industry, he worked as a Dealer for Caesar's in Atlantic City were his showmanship when running a craps game was legendary.

Steve graduated from Glassboro State and began his true passion teaching and coaching at the Brigantine North School, which was his extended family that he truly loved and was very much beloved. This is evidenced by the tremendous outpouring of love, support and comfort that was given to him while he was sick.

Steve had a great disposition about him and he always could make a joke and have fun in every job he did. In short he was "THE BEST". HE will be sadly missed by his close friends, cousins and co-workers.

Steve was a devoted and loving husband, to wife Jacqueline and a loving and caring father to daughter Jillian. He is survived by his brothers, Mark and Raymond (Janice) D'Amico, many nieces and nephews and man’s best friend, Chester the dog.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 28th from 1-3pm at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Road, Linwood. An additional viewing will take place at St. Joseph’s Church, Somers Point, on Monday, January 29th from 10-11am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. Condolences may be extended to the family at
