MCFADDEN, MARGARET MARILYN, “Molly”, 82 of Longport, passed away on Friday, Sept. 29 at Linwood Care Center, after a long illness. Born November 25, 1935 in Philadelphia, she was raised in St. Martin of Tours Parish in Northeast Phila, and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, and attended Gwynedd Mercy Junior College. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She married Lt. Col. Louis P. McFadden, USA, Retired (Hon.), in Phila in 1953, and raised 3 sons, residing at Army bases from Alaska to Virginia for 23 years. She was a long-time resident of Longport and member of the Catholic Church of the Epiphany, the Catholic College Women’s Club, and the Shore Memorial Hospital’s Women’s Guild.
Her favorite saying was “you can do it, you can do it, you can you can”. She was always the life of the party, and the leader of “Molly McFadden’s Rag Tag Time Band” that played at the Greenhouse, Sears Town Tavern, and the Kelly’s Winchester House.
She enjoyed working part-time in Dr. Abbott’s dental office in Ventnor, and also served on the Board of the Greate Bay Villas Assoc., 1991-1994, where she always enjoyed an occasional game of golf. But she most enjoyed being with her now older grandchildren as they grew up: Jaime, Trey, Kevin, Kateyln, Maggie, Colin, and Molly.
She is predeceased by her loving parents, Thomas E. Donahue, and Margaret “Peg” Donahue, of Longport, and Philadelphia.
She is also survived by her brother, Thomas E. Donahue, Jr. (Barbara) of Coronado, California, and her three sons, Louis P. McFadden, Jr., Esq. (Michelle) of Northfield, Kevin T. McFadden (Ilene) of Richmond, Virginia, and Michael K. McFadden, Esq. (Sylvia) of Linwood, and her favorite cousins, Patty Murphy (John) of Longport, Suzie Sule (Robert) of Linwood, and Beth Ray of Longport.
“Mom Mom” is survived by 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
She left us with a legacy of love and happiness, and will always be missed by everyone who knew her.
A memorial service and Mass to celebrate her life will be announced by family members at some future date. Arrangements by the George H Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood – Ventnor.
